Super Mario Odyssey Will Support the Switch's Video Capturing Feature

20 October, 2017, 00:52 | Author: Jeannette Greene

The idea is simple: If you pay for "Super Mario Odyssey" through Nintendo's online eShop on the Nintendo Switch before October 27, the game downloads and is ready to go for October 27, when it unlocks.

But, for video capture at least, there's a catch: it now only works with four Nintendo-developed games: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (version 1.3 onwards), Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (1.3 onwards), Splatoon 2 (1.2 onwards) and Arms (3.1 onwards). With the latter, however, there's a big asterisk attached.

You can now transfer user profiles and save data to another system.

In addition to the actual Switch system, it looks like Nintendo has also rolled out an update for the Joy-Con controllers. You can only save 30 seconds of video, which can then be saved and shared to Facebook or Twitter.

A dozen new Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild icons were added for use as a player icon.

Earlier today, Nintendo pushed an update to Switch consoles that added a few long-requested features. Hopefully, we'll see video capture introduced across the board, so fans can share all their favorite clips and really get people excited for the Switch.

Video game stories from other sites on the web. While the feature is useful for sharing those cool moments with your friends, it only supports certain games.

Search for and subscribe to game-specific news content from the News List screen.

Headphone volume can also be set to a higher level. This is the first time Switch owners have been able to move save data in any official capacity, as opposed to having save data being completely trapped on a default system, but it's still a far cry from being able to take your console's save files and store them somewhere secure, like a spare SD card or a computer. If you want high-quality video, a capture card is still your best bet. A feature called "Match Version With Local Users" will match up software versions across users on the system.

Scroll down through the System Settings menu and select System.
