  • Ford is recalling 1.3 million vehicles to fix a problem with doors and waterproofing

The recall involves about 1.1 million vehicles in the us, 222,000 in Canada and 21,000 in Mexico. The Super Duty was also resigned for 2017 for the first time in two decades.

Ford Motor Company has announced a voluntary recall impacting 1.3 million pickup trucks in North America.

The automaker says the repairs will cost Ford $267 million.

According to the recall from Ford, a frozen door latch or bent or kinked actuation in the affected trucks is causing the issue.

Dealers are to install the water shields and make repairs, if needed, for free.

The company said it was not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with the issue but said because of the fault, the door may appear closed, increasing the risk of the door opening while driving.

The recall affects 2015-2017 model-year F-150s that were built at the Dearborn Assembly Plant between March 12, 2014 and December 31, 2016, as well as ones built at Ford's Kansas City Assembly Plant between August 11, 2014 and December 30, 2016. The Ford reference number for this recall is 17S33. Last September, Ford recalled 211,000 cars in North America due to a problem with side door latches that that the company said is unrelated to this recall, CNBC reported. Ford said it continues to expect full-year adjusted earnings in the range of $1.65 to $1.85‍ per share.
