Roy Price has resigned as head of Amazon Studios after being suspended from the streaming company amid a sexual harassment scandal, TheWrap has learned.

Price didn't respond to a request for comment Tuesday.

Since Price's suspension last week, it appeared to be a foregone conclusion that he would not return to Amazon.

Amazon Studios Chief Operating Officer Albert Cheng, a former Walt Disney Co. executive, will oversee the studio while Amazon searches for Price's replacement, according to a statement. It's unclear if there will be any other aftershocks for the company.

Hackett reported the incidents to studio executives who brought in investigators to look further into the allegations, The Hollywood Reporter added. Price was accused by actress Rose McGowan of ignoring her when she reported to him that Weinstein had raped her.

Hackett told THR reporter Kim Masters that she reported the improper behavior to Amazon at the time.

Price was put on a leave of absence "effective immediately" on Thursday when reports emerged that he allegedly sexually harassed an Amazon TV producer.

He said on Twitter that McGowan claimed she told Price about the alleged rape but had been told it "hadn't been proven". That business has since grown into a vibrant original-series and feature-film studio, with Price at the helm.
