An 82-year-old woman and her three daughters along with a security guard were found dead with their throats slit in their house in Mansarovar Park area of Shahdara in north-east Delhi this morning, police said. Their neighbours informed the police about the incident around 7 a.m. All the five bodies were having knife wounds.

"Urmila's husband Ramkishan and his six brothers had established the Jindal Oil Mill in 1932, but later after he and his brothers passed away, Urmila started renting their 2,700 yard property in small portions to over 100 shops".

It is suspected that killings could be fallout of property dispute. While reports claimed that the murder may be linked to a possible property dispute, The Times of India report noted that the police is still interrogating the family members to understand the possible reasons behind the killings.

Nupur Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara), said that Urmila was planning to sell off some of her properties. The security guard was identified as Rakesh Kumar, 42. He said, "Crime scene indicates friendly entry, can not say the motive behind the murders now. No one heard anything". The family members said that they always believed that staying together in a big, joint family would ensure security. "Our rooms are a little far from each other which is why probably we could not hear any sound when the murders took place", said Satish Chand Jindal, nephew of Urmila.

The Jindals have been living in the area since 1931 and are a business family. "It looks like the accused were professional killers", the woman said.

The deceased's phone call details were also being examined and family members were questioned to establish Friday night's activities, he added.
