Debra Messing Mad At Megyn Kelly For 'Gay Thing' Comment

  • NBC's Megyn Kelly says she's 'done with politics' on debut

Megyn Kelly asked Jane Fonda a question about plastic surgery during the "TODAY Show".

While appearing on NBC's "TODAY Show", the 79-year-old, two-time Oscar victor diverted host Megyn Kelly from her question about Fonda's plastic surgery in an awkward exhange.

"You've been an example to everyone in how to age beautifully and with strength and unapologetically", Kelly said, complimenting the legend before adding, "You admit you've had work done, which I think is to your credit, but you look fantastic. You admit you've had work done, which I think is to your credit, but you look unbelievable", she said.

On Tuesday, Sept. 26, one of Debra's fans asked the 49-year-old actress why she and her castmates appeared on Megyn's new show - and Debra held nothing back in her Instagram response.

"I read that you said you're not proud to admit you've had work done", she continued.

"Thanks. Good attitude. Good posture".

Fonda went on to speak at length about the film, delving into her character and plot details with help from Redford.

"Right now. I wouldn't want any other time", Fonda said bluntly.

But she said Wednesday that doesn't mean her show won't cover politics.

Kelly explained she wanted to know because people often reference how "amazing" Fonda looks.

"Is it true that you became a lawyer - and you became gay - because of Will?"

In January, Kelly announced on the air that she would be leaving Fox News to "pursue a new challenge", and her role on NBC decidedly represents such a challenge for Kelly. "As long as I've known Jane, she's always been moving forward and doesn't look back", says Redford. Lawyer, best apartment in NY, and gay?

The comment wasn't just a compliment-though it made Fonda smile and put her at ease-it was also a call to embrace the moment and use her experience, rather than feel anchored by it.
