If first-arrived were ever a measure of a phone's success, Sony took a good four-day headstart over Apple's iPhones on Monday when it launched its latest smartphone, the Xperia XZ1 in India with a price tag of Rs 44,990. The phone is launched in Black Color and the sale of Sony Xperia XZ1 starts from today. It packs a 2,700 mAh battery with Qnovo Adaptive Charging capability.

The XZ1 comes with an end to end display and although it does have a loop surface design which incorporates metal uni-body chassis and a gorilla glass 5 front, the material in the new Sony XZ1 are absolutely premium and the build quality is simply unbelievable. The XZ1 has a 5.2-inch FullHD display which is covered by Gorilla Glass 5 for protection against nicks and scratches. Like with the Xperia XZ Premium, the Sony Xperia XZ1 lets you record video at 960fps for super slow motion video.

The device also has a 2GB RAM, a 32GB/128GB/256GB internal memory (no microSD card slot), a 12MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, digital zoon (up to 5x), Optical image Stabilisation, six-element lens, and Quad-LED True Tone flash, a 7MP front-snapper with ƒ/2.2 aperture and auto image stabilization, and a 1,960mAh battery. For the front, there is a 13-megapixel Exmor RS sensor with 22mm wide angle lens and aperture f/2.0. Price wise and overall, the Xperia XZ1 has a slight advantage over its competitors, making them ideal for those who can't spend much.

Sony claims that this device is the most compact flagship device as no other small device sports the Snapdragon 835 processor. The USP of this phone is that it comes with Snapdragon 835 processor and is equipped with 19MP rear camera and 3D scanning. Last week Sony launched Sony Xperia XA1 in India and now it is expected that the company will soon launch the Sony Xperia XZ1 compact in India. Xperia XZ1 comes out of the box with the latest version of Android - Android 8.0. Cut to 2017, the same familiar design now seems underwhelming and nowhere close to what Samsung and LG have pulled off with the phones such as the Galaxy Note 8 and LG G6.

The device ispriced at Rs 32,999 ($479) for the 6GB RAM+64GB storage model and Rs 37,999 ($539) for the 8GB RAM+128GB ROM. It comes with a 3D Creator software that is capable of capturing a 3D model of any object such as a face or food.

On the connectivity front, the Sony XZ1 supports 4G VoLTE, NFC, Dual-band MIMO Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 It comes with USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer and a 3.5mm headphone jack which is fast becoming a rarity in today's world.
