  • We went hungry before we arrived in India: Rohingyas share their tragic tales

"The continued stay of Rohingyas in India apart from being absolutely illegal is found to be having national security ramification and has serious security threats", the Centre said.

Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said the government's decision to deport Rohingya refugees was in the nation's interest. He said the refugees were entitled to protection of their fundamental rights under Article 12 and 14 of the Indian Constitution. "If India says we won't allow them in our country then no worldwide body can ask it to take them in", he said.

Terming the ongoing Rohingyas issue as a major challenge from across the border in Myanmar, the BJP leader said the government is handling infiltration and illegal migration with "utmost maturity".

The U.K.is suspending all its engagement with Myanmar's military until the action against the country's Muslim Rohingya minority is halted, British Prime Minister Theresa May said Tuesday.

Numerous displaced have arrived with horrific tales of killings and rapes by Myanmar's security forces and Buddhist militias. It also said the government had intelligence indicating links between Rohingya refugees and Islamic State and other extremist groups.

The plea filed by the two Rohingya immigrants, Mohammad Salimullah and Mohammad Shaqir, who are registered refugees under the United Nations High Commission of Refugees (UNHCR), earlier stated that "this act (deportation) would be in contradiction with the Principle of Non-Refoulement, which has been widely recognized as a principle of Customary International Law".

"We were told to hand over our demands to a peon, which we did not do", Haque said. Rohingya activists say many families have lived in Myanmar for years.

He said that India had sent a large quantity of relief material to Bangladesh but claimed that even Bangladesh had security concerns regarding Rohingyas. The group also has ties with Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) cell in Jammu and Kashmir. More than 410,000 Rohingya have arrived in Bangladesh since a fresh outbreak of violence erupted on August 25 in Myanmar's westernmost Rakhine state.

The hearing will continue next month.
