A pair of Hunter gauntlets in Destiny 2 that display art that bears a resemblance to a hate symbol have been removed from the game, the developer announced today.

Although Bungie did not specify the gauntlet-and the company has not returned a request for comment-Redditors quickly discerned that the "Road Complex AA1", pictured above, fits the bill.

This flag has recently been seen amongst white supremacist groups, such as those marching in the USA in recent weeks.

The "Legendary" item was removed during Destiny 2's update on Tuesday, which went on a little longer than expected with a further three-hour outage for fans, with servers going back online around 10pm British time. The statement reads: "It's come to our attention that a gauntlet in Destiny 2 shares elements with a hate symbol".

The flag is modelled after the German military flag used in Nazi Germany, and was used by alt-right groups at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia last month. "We are removing it", Bungie said in a series of tweets this afternoon.

It's clear to see that the gauntlets do look similar to the design on the Kekistan flag, albeit slightly modified. "We renounce hate in all forms".

"This imagery has been removed from the shared game world".

Destiny 2 weekly reset is the most important day in the week for those wanting to get the most out of Bungie's loot-filled shooter.
