Arizona Cardinals: 3 players to watch against Lions

The versatile running back took a 2nd-and-20 pass and caught it for a first down inside the 5-yard line against the Detroit Lions in the Week 1 game between the teams. With Johnson struggling to find room, the team turned to Carson Palmer, but the veteran quarterback has two interceptions and no touchdowns.

But Lions fans have also seen plenty of fourth-quarter comebacks, and quarterback Matthew Stafford technically delivered a critical one.

For this week against the Lions however, our eyes should be on these three players. This is Ameer Abdullah's time to shine.

The Detroit Lions got blown out by the champions in the first quarter 24-0.

The Lions forced four turnovers and Kenny Golladay had a debut to remember, catching two second-half touchdown passes, as the Lions beat the Arizona Cardinals in the season opener at Ford Field, 35-23. The Lions have a restructured offense, and the focus will be their running game. Defensive tackle A'Shawn Robinson stripped Johnson from behind on a carry and rookie linebacker Jarrad Davis recovered, setting the Lions up with a short field. When the two teams played in 2015, Fitzgerald had a little under 60 yards and a touchdown. Stafford has the weapons he needs to get back to the playoffs, but question marks are all over this defense. That set up a 10-yard touchdown pass to rookie Golladay to give Detroit its first lead of the day, 21-17. They have the weapons on offense to put up points in bunches, and their defense should be much-improved this year as well.

The Cardinals added a meaningless score late in the closing minutes.
