The team confirmed that Donald took and passed his physical. Donald has stayed away from the Rams since offseason team activities in May, demanding a new contract after three standout National Football League seasons.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Donald and the Rams have yet to agree to a new contract and will continue negotiations.

However, Donald will not play in their Week 1 matchup against the against the Indianapolis Colts, and both sides are still working on a new contract, per Schefter.

Donald has been absent throughout training camp and the preseason. "But in the meantime we've got to get ready to play a football game and we know the Colts are getting ready as well".

Donald has recorded 28.0 sacks in his first three seasons.

The Rams seem to be trying to stay on good terms with Donald.

By reporting Saturday, Donald avoids losing regular season game checks. In 2017, Donald has a $1.8 million base salary and will carry a $3.2 million cap hit.

The Rams star defensive lineman still has two years remaining on his rookie contract with the team picking up his fifth-year option this offseason, but Los Angeles' general manager Les Snead has repeatedly stated this offseason that their goal is to make Donald a Ram for a long time. They can include him on the 53-man roster - he's now on the did not report list - or they can ask for a roster exemption, similar to the one the Steelers got with Le'Veon Bell.
