  • Cubs Game Notes For Friday vs. Milwaukee

Milwaukee Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson left Friday night's 2-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs after jamming his right shoulder.

Sandoval finished 1 for 3 with four RBIs. If the Brewers are to overcome that deficit and make their first postseason appearance since 2011, they'll have to do it behind a rotation led by 16-game victor winner Zach Davies, veteran Matt Garza and breakout pitcher Chase Anderson.

Nelson's 2017 season represents a significant improvement on his performance in 2016, a season in which he went 8-16 with a 4.62 ERA, a 1.52 WHIP and 186 strikeouts. The right-hander threw four-hit ball over five innings, while striking out seven and walking two en route to winning his third straight start. Kyle Schwarber hit a pinch-hit solo homer and Leonys Martin added an RBI double of his own, making up the lone two runs in the loss for the Cubs. But over Garza's last six starts, Garza has allowed 27 earned runs on 37 hits in 24 innings.

The Milwaukee Brewers sit just four games back in the NL Central and three back of the Colorado Rockies for the second Wild Card spot entering play on Saturday.

The Chicago Cubs will look to salvage a win and avoid the sweep when they take the field on Sunday.

The North Siders are now 6-4 in their last ten games and 34-19 since the All-Star break.

Nelson was tied for the league lead with 29 starts this season, racking up a 12-6 record, 3.49 ERA and 199 strikeouts in 175 1/3 innings.
