Kylian Mbappe was presented to the media in an event at Parc des Princes this morning in the French capital.

Unai Emery, the manager of mega-squad Paris Saint-Germain, was hardly going to call it a crisis when one of his superstars returned from the global break unfit, but he reported it as a setback, nonetheless.

During his presentation at PSG, the 18-year-old preferred not to reveal to reporters what exactly happened, preferring to emphasise that he had great respect for Monaco Vice-President Vadim Vasilyev, who is responsible for sports management, reports Efe.

Mbappe, regarded as one of the sport's rising stars, scored 21 goals last season to help Monaco win the Ligue 1 title.

"I just wanted to thank you for all the love you gave me during our time together. Whether I'm playing for Paris or Bayern Munich, there will be competition". So my objective is obviously to score more than last season.

Asked about the nature of his transfer and the high price PSG will ultimately pay for his signature once the transfer is made permanent, Mbappe said: "It is not me who handled the transfer".

"But individual ambitions should always be part of a wider ambition, and that is for the team to win everything".

PSG signing Kylian Mbappe admits he had contact with Real Madrid earlier in the summer.

"Well, I believe that we were on the case past year", Wenger said. "It is extraordinary to play with him (Neymar)".

Once the transfer becomes official, he will become the second most expensive player of all time, behind his new teammate Neymar.

Mbappe is expected to make his PSG debut on Friday, when Unai Emery's men go to Metz for a Ligue 1 fixture.

"It's been put on standby, but I'll have to get back on the case", said Mbappe, whose mother drove him to training at Monaco.
