Xbox One X Will Feature Special "Project Scorpio" Edition at Launch

20 August, 2017, 07:07 | Author: Jeannette Greene

Listings for a Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition were accidentally put on two German websites, and were quickly taken down.

It's rumored pre-orders will open following the event. To recall, Project Scorpio is the tentative name for the Xbox One X before it was formally announced. The Verge's Tom Warren claims that pre-orders will also go live as soon as the event is over. The Redmond company's media briefing is scheduled to begin at 2 PM Central Time on Sunday.

None of this is particularly enticing outside of the much nicer texture on the top of the One X console, but it is very welcome for early adopters of the upcoming console. Considering their proximity to Microsoft's Gamescom show, it's entirely possible that we'll see Microsoft announce this as a special "day one" console during the presentation.

Both listings encourage buyers to pre-order the console before it's gone forever, indicating that the edition should be limited. I can't wait to get my hands on it when it launches on November 7. Microsoft can't afford to price its console below $499 because even at that price tag it is selling the console at a small loss.

"Don't forget to tune in Sunday at 9:00pm CEST / 8:00pm BST / 12:00pm PDT so that you can be the first to hear the latest news on highly anticipated games coming to the Xbox family and Windows 10".

By the time Xbox One X goes on sale, almost 100 games will have received the Xbox One X Enhanced support. Tech Advisor speculates that during the livestream Microsoft will provide more details regarding the Xbox One X including developer interviews and gameplay videos.
