  • Doctors were trying to work out what happened to Kanizay's legs on Saturday

It took nearly a day to stop the blood flow - Sam went to wet his legs at the beach at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, and the bleeding stopped on Sunday afternoon, he told Fairfax.

A Melbourne teen was attacked by sea creatures while waist deep at Dendy Street Beach in Brighton.

On video, he caught hundreds of miniscule sea creatures devouring the steak - but it's uncertain if these are the culprits responsible for Sam Kanizay's injuries.

Mr Kanizay couldn't stop his son's legs bleeding and they went to hospital, where staff were at a loss to explain what had happened.

The bleeding had not stopped by the time he had walked home, where his father, Jarrod, was taken aback by the state of his son's legs.

Even after her legs under the shower, the blood has not stopped flowing and her family then thought that it was an attack of sea lice.

When speaking with 3AW journalists, the Melbourne youth said there were "hundreds" of "pin-sized bites" on both his feet and ankles.

According to Australian broadcaster ABC, 16-year-old Sam Kanizay, felt sore after playing football on Saturday when he made a decision to soak his legs at a beach in Brighton just before 6.30pm. "I've put meat into a net and they've grabbed on to that like no tomorrow", said Sam's father Jarrod Kanizay said as quoted by Daily Mail Australia.

You'll probably want to steer clear of the water for a while after witnessing poor Sam Kanizay's ocean ordeal.

"There was a massive pool of blood on the floor [at the hospital]".

Dr. Walker-Smith had examined a sample of the tiny animals collected by Sam's father, Jarrod Kanizay, who took them from the beach by tempting them with pieces of meat.

"I didn't really know what to think of it, it was a bit of a shock".

Paul Duckett, a regular swimmer at the beach, said he has swum there for sixteen years and never confronted any flesh-eating bugs.

Sam Kanizay, 16, pulled up sore after playing footy, and suffered gruesome injuries to his lower legs and feet when he went to the beach to ice down at about 6.20pm on Saturday night, the Herald Sun reports.

He was given antibiotics, and later taken to a different hospital for further tests, but his legs continued to bleed into the early hours of Sunday.

Associate Professor Reina said sea fleas should not alarm people or deter them from swimming. "They are very good at finding food".

"It was just unlucky".
