Pokemon Go Fest's blunders result in class-action lawsuit

Almost two dozen frustrated fans are suing the creator of Pokémon Go, after technical failures left them unable to play the game at a festival celebrating it in Chicago last weekend. Server issues made it so Pokémon GO players couldn't actually play the game the way it was meant to be played, and even Niantic CEO John Hanke was booed when he tried to take the stage to apologize.
It's easy to sympathize with those people who are disappointed by the Go Fest, particularly those who traveled a great distance only to discover the event couldn't provide the anticipated experience.
Niantic has openly admitted that they were "horrified" by the events that happened and offered full refunds on attendee's tickets, as well as $100 of in-game credit and the promised legendary Pokemon as an apology.
But, as first reported by Polygon, that didn't satisfy everyone. Lead plaintiff Jonathan Norton came to the July 22 Chicago event from California, but the lawsuit is seeking monetary damages to recover the travel expenses of attendees who came from around the globe.
The legendary birds have finally been unlocked in Pokémon GO, but not everything is going too well for Niantic right now. Roughly 20 to 30 attendees feel the same way and have since joined the class-action suit against Niantic.
Ever since Niantic launched its iconic gamePokémon Go, it has emerged as one of the most popular games across the globe.
"But Niantic is not offering to refund people's travel expenses for coming to Chicago". Many people had traveled from other states just to attend the event.
As a result of these blunders, Niantic finds itself as a defendant in a proposed class-action lawsuit (PDF) over the scarred festival.
