  • Liverpool end interest in Leipzig star Naby Keita

RB Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuttl says there is "zero" chance that Naby Keita will be sold to Liverpool this transfer window - but hinted that the club's stance could change next summer.

Journalists and insiders from Guinea have been feeding the European press and Reds supporters with information about Naby Keita's hopes of joining Liverpool during the summer.

Once again, Leipzig - who finished runners-up in the Bundesliga last season - rejected Liverpool's offer and having previously made it clear to Anfield officials that they did not welcome the interest in Keita, refused to consider any deal, despite the size of the financial package. "And it's the case that there are people behind Naby, that demand his transfer", added the Leipzig director.

"I think we said it early that we want to build on the squad from past year, and that's what we've tried to do". That will be our answer now also.

"Everyone can see how important Naby Keita is with our game".

"Liverpool will finish their transfer activities and that's ok with me".

"These are our two most important players on our team so it's sure he will be with our team next year".

Hasenhuttl insisted he didn't have a problem with Liverpool's persistent pursuit, however, saying "that is football business".

Liverpool originally bid £57m for the Guinea midfielder and were expected to return with a third bid.

Keita was one of the team's top players as Leipzig stunned the Bundesliga by finishing second behind Bayern Munich, qualifying for the Champion League for the first time. "Until next summer we keep the door closed and then we have a look".

"I know Naby from the very first day when he came to Salzburg", Rangnick said in The Guardian. A year ago in the summer it was not so easy to get all the new good players. We don't have many injuries now, which is the best news and if we can stay fit, we can be very strong.
