The 2017 MTV VMAs are just a month and a day away and starting this week, voting is officially open.

MTV announced the nominees Tuesday for its 34th annual MTV Video Music Awards, and Louisville native Bryson Tiller secured two Moonman nominations.

This decision followed the MTV Movie & TV Awards, which also featured gender-neutral categories, and it is a huge step forward for inclusivity in awards shows. The other seven revolve around his single "Humble" from Damn. Katy scores nominations for several songs, including "Chained to the Rhythm", "Bon Appetit" and her collaboration with Calvin Harris, "Feels". Another nod for the artist will also place him in the race for one of the VMAs' most desired trophy.

Additionally, the Compton rapper is vying for Artist of the Year, competing against the likes of Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and Lorde.

But while the idea behind the Best Fight Against the System category may be the same as those earlier awards, the 2017 nominees tend to be more definitive in their messaging, speaking to either a specific social movement (#NoDAPL and Black Lives Matter) or a broader, timely social justice issue.

The video has over 193 million views on YouTube.

Other acts who scored Moonmen nominations include the Chainsmokers, Migos, Harry Styles, Selena Gomez, Fifth Harmony and Big Sean. Users interested will be able to vote in nine categories.

Lamar's "Humble" is up for every technical award except Best Editing, putting it way ahead of the pack. Best Rock Video, Best Dance Video, Best Pop Video, and Best Hip Hop Video are also on this list.

Check out the full list of nominees on the official VMAs website.

The MTV Video Music Awards, which will air live from Inglewood, California on Aug 27, has a reputation for irreverence, shock tactics and unpredictable moments.
